Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
On Monday afternoon, Abhishek Banerjee, the national general secretary of Trinamool Congress (TMC), left for Cooch Behar in a special flight.
Speaking at Kolkata airport, Banerjee announced that he would visit Navajowar and worship at Madanmohan temple to mark National Panchayet Raj Day. He also reiterated his objections to the use of the term "North Bengal" and stated that he would stay in Cooch Behar for three days before heading to Alipurduar.
Banerjee highlighted the importance of allowing the people of Jalpaiguri to choose their own Panchayet candidate in the federal structure.
Banerjee downplayed his recent meeting with the Chief Ministers of two neighboring states and emphasized that it was normal to interview and discuss with them. He also hinted at a future course of action for TMC, which would be decided and revealed by party supremo Mamata Banerjee.
